According to reports Barcelona are still keen on Philippe Coutinho’s signature. Barca have reiterated to the player’s representatives that the transfer is still their top priority.
After several meeting between the two clubs recently, negotiations have slowed recently as Liverpool focus on the start of their league and Champions League campaigns.
Liverpool are looking to get the highest possible fee for Philippe Coutinho after rejecting Barcelona’s recent bid of£118m.
Jürgen Klopp resorted to sarcasm when asked about the latest on the saga in his press conference. He was asked by a Brazilian journalist, “With the rumours of Barça paying £130m for Coutinho, will he leave?”.
The Liverpool boss gave a trademark toothy grin and replied: “They didn’t offer that, we said no, yet they offered, I think tomorrow they will offer a McDonald’s Happy Meal and we get the toy as well!”
Barcelona hope to step up negotiations again after the second leg of Liverpool’s Champions League qualifier in the hope of reaching a deal.
